Tioman is heaven for certified scuba divers and those who would like to learn diving.
B&J Diving Centre is a PADI 5 Star CDC facility and conducts daily dive trips for certified divers and PADI courses from try-out diving to instructor levels.
If you want to dive the most beautiful coral gardens in the South China Sea, swim with a huge variety of tropical reef fish, turtles, sharks, cuttlefish and search for nudibranchs in one of the best macro spots in the world, then you shouldn’t miss a visit to Tioman Island.
FUN DIVING FOR CERTIFIED DIVERS
Don’t miss out scuba diving in Malaysia on Tioman Island, home to some of the healthiest coral reefs in South East Asia and a myriad of marine life. It’s considered the Best Scuba Diving Destination on Peninsular Malaysia.
At B&J we conduct 3 dive daily - a morning trip with 2 dives and a single afternoon dive. On top of this we conduct shore dives as well as night dives. Diving gets cheaper the more you dive.
MORNING DIVE TRIPS
We meet at the dive shop at 08:00am for our morning trip that includes 2 guided boat dives. This trip brings you to the northern dive sites of Tioman in the vicinity of Coral Island.
After a nice dive you will have a reasonable surface interval during which you can either sunbathe or go snorkelling. The second dive will always be at a different dive site in the area. We return to base between 12pm and 1pm, depending on the boat we use that day and the dive sites we’ve been to.
- Duration: 4 to 5 hrs.
- Start time: 08:00am
- Guide ratio: 4 to max 6 divers per guide
- Costs: MYR 280.00/2 dives

AFTERNOON DIVE
We meet at 2:00pm for our single afternoon dive. This time we’ll visit a dive site closer to Tioman Island. It might be a shallow dive with great corals, turtles and blacktip reef sharks or we might visit some of our wrecks. We’re usually back by around 5pm.
- Duration: 2 to 3 hours
- Start time: 2:00pm
- Guide ratio: 4 to max 6 divers per guide
- Costs: MYR 140.00 per dive

NIGHT DIVES
Diving at night is always something special. Depending on the number of divers we conduct either shore or boat night dives on a daily basis.
- Duration: 1 to 3 hours
- Start time: 6:30pm
- Guide ratio: 1 dive guide for up to 4 divers
- Costs: MYR 120.00/shore night dive

SHORE REEF & MUCK DIVES
Dives from shore are not only great for a check-out dive if you haven’t been diving in a while, they also offer a different insight to our marine life. We always find special critters during our muck dives and are visited by our resident turtles and cuttlefish.
There is a shallow hard coral house reef right in front of our resort with a large variety of fish and critters. If you dive over the sand to a depth of some 20m-24m you will come to a vast artificial reef we call Ghost Town.
- Duration: 45min to 1 hour
- Start time: Anytime
- Guide ratio: 1 dive guide for up to 4 divers
- Costs: MYR 90.00/shore dive (discount available if you have your own dive equipment and if you’re sufficiently experienced to dive with your buddy without our guide)

PADI DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING
PADI Discover Scuba Diving aka DSD is an introduction into scuba diving. It allows you to try-out diving without having to do a full course. If you ever wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course then this program is perfect for you.
You will learn the basics of diving under the direct supervision of our PADI Professionals.
PRACTICE SCUBA DIVING IN THE SWIMMING POOL AND THEN ENJOY A BEACH DIVE
You will get your first scuba experience in our swimming pool where our PADI Instructor will take you to try out the basics of scuba diving. After practicing some necessary skills in the pool you’ll be going on a shore dive where you will find yourself gliding along the reefs and fishes of Tioman Island. This dive will take you to a maximum depth of 12 meters.
- Duration: Approx. 3hrs.
- Start time: Usually in the morning so you can add an afternoon boat dive
- Costs: MYR 200.00/person
- Extra Dives: Add extra boat dives @ MYR 150.00/person/dive
ADDITIONAL DSD BOAT DIVES
Once you've completed the DSD program with us you can add additional boat dives. Our PADI professional will take you on one of our dive boats and bring you to one of the dive sites around Tioman Island to see an abundance in marine life. Your depth is still limited to 12 meters. Most customers add an extra boat dive right after the DSD program in the morning and even add more dives the following day.

PADI OPEN WATER COURSE - Learn Diving on Tioman
Learn Scuba Diving on Tioman Island in Malaysia with the PADI Open Water Course! If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it all starts.
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle. The fun part about this course is…. just about all of it! Learning to dive is simply incredible and you have to do it! You breathe underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver.
COURSE INFORMATION
The PADI Open Water Course takes some 4 days to complete and we start courses literally every other day with small group sizes (average of 2 to 4 students).
We will arrange that you can complete the theory before arrival (eLearning) so you can fully focus on the practical part when you are on Tioman. There you will spend the first 3 days learning basic scuba diving skills in our pool and during shallow ocean shore dives. On the 4th day you will head out on our dive boat to some of the best dive sites around Tioman for your final 2 Open Water dives to a depth of maximum 18 meters/60 feet.
COURSE PREREQUISITES
- You must know how to swim
- there will be a 200m swim test or a 300m snorkelling test
- You must know how to float
- there will be a 10 minute float test
- You need to be able to answer all questions in the PADI Medical Statement with NO

- 4:30pm – Logbook and debriefing
DAY 3:

- 09:30am – 1 shore dive (Confined Water Modules 4 & 5)

- 1:00pm – 1 shore dive (Open Water Dive 2)
